The human body is 60 – 70 percent of water. Humans can
survive without food for 2 whole months but can only go few days without water
before bodily functions are compromised. Water flushes out toxic in the body
while keeping essential organs wet so as to function effectively.
8 to 10 glasses of water consumption daily helps the body
breathe, because it moistens the lungs. (Lung functions use up to a pint of
water daily, decreasing body fluid through exhalation).
Having a glass of water before is very advisable b, because
it helps the body replenish the fluids it loses throughout the day from normal
activities.
Since the H2O is so vital for the day to day function of the
human body, it is very important to know the symptoms of dehydration. A dry and
sticky mouth, sunken eyes, lack of tears in the eyes, little or no urine
output, lethargy and in some cases disco ordination , are the obvious signs
that says the bodily functions are beginning to get compromised.
If the obvious symptoms are ignored over time, it
subsequently results to gain of excess body fat, poor muscle tone as well as
decrease ability to digest food.
Note: If you are extremely thirsty and dehydrated, drink cold
water instead of warm or hot water because it has been proven that the body
absorbs cold water more quickly.
